NOTES + TIPS

General notes

I do meal prep on Sundays

A bulk of my cleaning is done on Fridays

I save longer workouts for the weekend

Social activities are primarily during weekend

If I'm inspired I may add in more work around 8 PM or even as late as 11 PM — whenever I can’t get something off my mind :)

I document EVERYTHING that pops into my mind when I’m walking, showering, working out or laying in bed

Later that day or the following morning I complete, record or schedule all thoughts (an informal Brain Dump!) so everything can be addressed at the appropriate day and time

How TO achieve balance

#1 Embrace a true routine

Do the same thing every day around the same time for base activities. When tasks become second nature they are quicker + easier to accomplish.

Establish recurring activities in your calendar or task management tool of choice. This eliminates to need to “remember” what needs to be done each day. Assign a specific time for each activity so you can visually assess the flow of the day and adjust as needed.

Schedule different activities on varying days to incorporate everything you want in a given week

  • Mondays I use a sauna bag instead of a workout

  • M / W / F is facial exfoliation; T / TH is Solawave red light therapy

  • Meal planning is Wednesday; grocery shopping is Thursday

#2 Spread things out

There was a time when I packed nearly all of my life tasks into Sunday mornings. I became so overwhelmed that I would shut down or start crying.

Now that I’ve divvied tasks throughout the week — each day is much less intimidating & has room for fun!

#3 Allow flexibility

A routine is wonderful, but it doesn’t have to be 100% of your day or week

If I have extra time, I’ll review my list for the next day (either recurring or ad hoc tasks) and check a few things off early.

The following day is then more relaxing, or I can incorporate unexpected fun activities

#4 Stage + prep

As time permits throughout the day, proactively prepare for things set to occur later where you may be in a time crunch

Anticipating a quick turn-around between your workout and a dinner date? Stage your “get ready” items well before you need to use them (bonus if you lay everything out in the order you’ll use them — e.g., lotion > brush > makeup > perfume > jewelry)

Need to leave for a pickelball class right after a work meeting? Gather all the items you need (e.g., water, shoes, paddle, sunglasses, keys) in one location in advance so you can grab + go with confidence
